St. Jude Showcase Home Kitchen
A showcase kitchen built to be walked through by thousands, and still to work for the family who lives there afterwards.
The previous kitchen had accumulated finishes over two decades, each one reasonable on its own and none of them speaking to the others.
We reset the room around three materials and held to them: a warm rift-cut timber, a single veined stone carried across the island and the backsplash, and an unlacquered metal that is allowed to age. Restricting the palette is what lets the grain and the veining do the work.
